Parahawking in Nepal
In May 2006, after having fallen from its nest, a young Egyptian vulture found by a local farmer in the Pokhara area is put into the safe hands of Scott Mason, a bird expert and Nepal aficionado. Scott created the Maya Devi aviary in 2001 on the banks of Pokhara Lake. The young vulture was named Kevin. Thanks to Scott’s methodical work, Kevin started to show in no time obvious signs that he was good at “parahawking”, which is the art of flying next to paragliders.
