The underground city of Caen
Unknown historical sites of World War II, untouched in the heart of the suburb of Caen (Normandy, France), is that impossible? And yet… The quarrying of the famous Caen Stone has left over more than 300 hectares (about 750 acres) of subterranean galleries. Two cavers (an archaeologist and a photograph) have undertaken their exploration and study. We invite you to live with them their exceptional discovery: the untouched sites reveal extraordinary and forgotten stories of thousands of refugees sheltered in caves during the six weeks that has lasted the unceasing bombing of the town in June and July 1944, during the World War II.
